What if we didn’t need to be certain to dare to live…?
Sometimes, life opens a door for us, yet we hesitate to walk through it.
We long for change, for new experiences, for something different. And yet, when the moment comes to take that first step, doubts begin to arise.
What if I make the wrong choice? What if it doesn’t work out? What if I regret my decision?
During a session, someone shared a project that was very close to her heart. After a long and difficult period, she was beginning to feel the desire to live more fully again, to open herself to new possibilities and take a different direction in life.
But she was afraid.
Afraid of making the wrong choice, of losing what she had built, of finding herself in another painful situation.
So we explored together what she might actually lose.
And gradually, a different perspective began to emerge.
She didn’t have to give everything up to give it a try. She could keep what gave her stability, move forward at her own pace and, if the experience didn’t feel right, she could always step back.
It wasn’t vital that she make it work at all costs.
And above all, she could embrace this new experience without losing herself.
Because perhaps that is what matters most: remaining true to who we are, even when everything around us changes.
We often look for guarantees before taking action. We want to be sure we are making the right decision, that we won’t suffer, that we won’t make a mistake.
But life doesn’t always offer us that certainty.
What if we didn’t need to know in advance how things would unfold?
What if we simply allowed ourselves to try?
A decision doesn’t necessarily have to be final. And an experience that doesn’t turn out as we hoped isn’t necessarily a failure.
It can teach us something about ourselves, about our needs, about what feels right for us and what no longer does.
Sometimes, after experiencing so much pain, we become so afraid of going through it again that we choose to stay with what we know.
Even when something deep within us longs for more.
Perhaps courage, then, isn’t about being certain.
Perhaps it’s about accepting that we cannot know everything, taking that first step and trusting that we can respond to what unfolds, one step at a time.
This is where resilience and creativity can meet.
Resilience is not simply the ability to endure what happens to us. It is also the capacity to recover, to adapt and to keep moving forward without betraying ourselves.
And creativity allows us to imagine possibilities beyond the choices that seem immediately available. It helps us find new ways of moving forward, ways that respect both our need for security and our desire for change.
Without betraying ourselves. Without losing who we are.
And what if, ultimately, we could trust our ability to navigate life’s experiences more than our ability to predict them?
What if we could draw on our resilience and creativity to meet the unknown, not by knowing exactly what to do, but by remaining open to what we might discover along the way?
